Foreign Items German Dark Shadows Novels by Dan "Marilyn" Ross are extremely rare items. Several of the novels from the Paperback Library series which were sold in the U.S. were translated and sold overseas. Pictured above is the cover of one of the German translations. The artist's conception of Barnabas is quite unlike his TV alter ego, Jonathan Frid. (Photo courtesy of Bob Issel) Spanish reprints of Gold Key comics are also fairly difficult to come by in the U.S. They feature the same art as their American counterparts, but the text is translated into Spanish. Foreign Movie Promotion Dozens of versions of the House of Dark Shadows movie posters and lobby cards were issued to promote the film overseas. In some cases the title was changed to The Bride of the Vampire (or La Fiancee du Vampire) as in the French poster. Pictured above is one of the most intereseting designs -- the Japanese version which emphasizes the "aged Barnabas" figure, as he was shown for only a few moments in the movie. Pictured below are the Australian, Belgian and German versions. (Photos courtesy of Bob Issel.)
